Dr. Tony Sheppard, Psy.D., CGP, FAGPA

I am a clinical psychologist in the Louisville area who works with older children, adolescents, and adults. The field of Professional Psychology applies knowledge gained through psychological research to help people solve life’s problems. I chose this field out of a desire to bring psychology to every day life.

It is my goal to bring together compassion, research based understanding, and individualized plans to help people meet their goals.

I believe very strongly in the power of psychotherapy to change people’s lives. As we learn more about our bodies and our brains, we gain a greater understanding about how “talking helps”. Whether it is through individual or group therapy, teaching, supervision, or consultation, I want to help people attain their goals!

My approach focuses on the value and importance of relationships in helping us define ourselves and reach our potential. It is through our relationships with other people; past, present, and future that we learn about the world around us and about ourselves. I want to assist people in maintaining healthy, productive relationships.

Since I place a good deal of emphasis on relationships, much of my work with youth involves family members. Families are where people learn their relationship skills, so involving family members is often an important part of solving problems. Working with adults often involves discussion of family history and how this impacts a person’s views of the world and themselves.

I find that people often have a number of questions about therapy. Click Here to read some FAQ’s about psychology and therapy!
