Founded by Tony L. Sheppard, Psy.D., CGP, FAGPA in 2005, Groupworks is a unique psychology practice in the Louisville metropolitan area. We seek to Bring Psychology to Everyday Life in all that we do! Our pursuit of this goal involves building relationships with our clients that are based on mutual respect and effective communication. Professional psychology has alot of offer as we face life's challenges. Our goal is to help our clients apply psychological principles and research to their everyday lives.

As psychologists we offer Evidence-Based interventions for a number of issues. While we specialize in group therapy we offer a full array of services.

Groupworks offers a number of different psychological services.

Group Therapy-Our group programs support children, adolescents, and their families in developing healthier relationships and skills for success. Groupworks offers an innovative service that is unique to the Louisville area. Drs. Sheppard, Thieneman and Smith co-lead our therapy groups with one of our doctoral students from the Spalding University School of Professional Psychology.

Psychological Testing-Drs. Sheppard & Belva specialize in complex psychiatric diagnosis. Proper diagnosis of behavioral health disorders is essential in guiding effective treatment with mood disorders, attention problems, trauma, suicidal ideation and self harm behaviors. Psychological Testing should clarify the path toward recovery.

Individual & Family Therapy-Drs. Sheppard, Thieneman and Love specialize in the treatment of mood disorders, suicide and self-harm, relationship problems, issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity, and ADHD.

Reduced-Cost Therapy & Testing-We are able to offer a limited number of reduced-cost psychological testing batteries per year through our Spalding University doctoral students. The students are also able to offer reduced-cost individual and family therapy for certain issues. These students are supervised by Drs. Sheppard & Thieneman.

Training & Consulting-Drs. Sheppard, Thieneman and Love have presented, taught, and consulted at the local, regional, and national levels. They are popular presenters in the metro Louisville area and beyond!

What is a CGP?

You might have noticed that both Drs. Sheppard & Thieneman have "CGP" after their names. This means we are Certified Group Psychotherapists by the International Board for Certification of Group Psychotherapists. CGP's have attained a very high level of achievement and commitment to group therapy. We have training, supervision, and practice in group therapy that proves our expertise in this area of our field.
